| David lives in
Arlington, Massachusetts, located just outside of Boston,
and provides in-house counsel services to non-profits.
Prior to establishing his firm, David served as the
in-house counsel for an association of churches located
in all six New England states and throughout Europe.
Prior to this he served for eleven years as a nonprofit
administrator. As in-house
counsel David worked closely with board members, staff,
and volunteers to address legal, risk management,
and governance needs. This role included managing
outside counsel and conducting staff and volunteer
risk management training. During this time David recognized
how technology could be used effectively and efficiently
to equip staff and volunteers in their leadership
roles.
Also during this time, David recognized
a unique need for in-house counsel services for nonprofit
organizations. While many nonprofits do not require
a full-time attorney on staff, even if they could
afford one, these nonprofits still face legal, corporate
governance, and risk management challenges that require
quality counsel with a solid grasp of administrating
a nonprofit. As a result, David W. Adams, LLC was
created to provide practical and efficient counsel
and on-line tools to equip nonprofit leaders.
David is a graduate of Harvard College
(B.A., 1990) and Northeastern University School of
Law (J.D., 2002).
During law school he clerked for
the Honorable Patti Saris of the U.S. District Court
for the District of Massachusetts and for the Honorable
Walter Skinner in the U.S. District Court’s
mediation program.
David is admitted to practice
law in Massachusetts and is a member of the American
Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association,
and the Christian Legal Society. He is also an active
volunteer in several nonprofit organizations.
