Online Tools for Churches

David Adams in currently engaged with a group of New England congregations to write or review these churches’ policies and procedures in conjunction with an experienced accounting and human resources staff. These policies will be accessible to ministry staff leaders, board members, and volunteers via an online application with other resources and risk management training.

These revisions come at a time of significant change for these congregations and provide the opportunity to create policies that are concise, easy to understand, comply with changes in federal and state laws, and embrace best practices for today’s churches and nonprofits.

Policies

These policies are delivered to the churches through a secure application via the internet. (Click here for an overview of how this application works.) This tool allows church leaders to review model policies provided by David or to publish their own existing policies.

These churches are then able to provide their staff and key volunteer leaders on-line access to the newly adopted policies and procedures. Each of the following groups receive access to those policies and resources applicable to their leadership role in the church:

  • Ministry staff
  • Non-staff ministry leaders
  • Board of directors
  • Administrators
  • Youth ministry leaders
  • Children’s ministry leaders

Additional Resources

Other resources are also being created or made available to church staff and volunteers, including employee forms, checklists, an employee handbook, a board of directors manual, youth ministry manuals, and links to helpful websites for each church leader role.

On-line Training

Also being developed are on-line training sessions for the primary leadership roles of these churches. These include:

Ministry Staff Teen Leaders
  • Abuse Reporting
  • The Clergy-Penitent Privilege
  • Pastoral Counseling
  • Confidentiality
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Driving Safety
  • Abuse Reporting
  • Pastoral Counseling
  • Confidentiality
  • Parent Permission/Release Forms
  • Planning Great (and Safe) Events
Board Members Children's Ministry Leaders
  • Risk Management Overview
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Internal Controls
  • Abuse Reporting
  • Screening
  • Nursery Safety
  • Classroom Safety
  • Medical Emergencies
  • Fire Safety

These trainings will consist of 15-20 minute sessions that will allow new leaders to receive basic training in the areas of potential risk for their role. Staff and volunteer leaders will be able to complete these sessions from their own computer. Then, these types of issues do not need to consume group training sessions, which can be focused on ministry training. A management module allows each organization to track training compliance and to notify staff and employees when training is available.

If your church would benefit from these tools or from the policies and procedures being created, please contact David Adams by email or by calling (978) 663-1841.
